Casino Crime Round Up: Thief in Wheelchair Steals $5K at Casino

This week, police were searching for a suspect in a wheelchair who stole approximately $5,000 in cash. The spoils were on the ground at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh.

A slot machine player won the money on March 8. He placed it in a pocket, but it subsequently fell to the floor.

A man in an electric wheelchair noticed the money. It was located behind the chair occupied by the winner.

The burglar seized the spoils. He subsequently escaped from the gaming establishment.

The suspect is thought to be aged between 50 and 60 years. He is Caucasian. The unidentified victim hails from Westlake, Texas.

Deputies Storm Betting Establishments

Investigations into two unlawful gambling activities resulted in the confiscation of firearms, $67,000 in cash, and 116 computers this week in North Carolina.

According to North Carolina TV station WBTV, the raids occurred at two establishments: Shark Tank on Statesville Boulevard in Salisbury and VIP2 on Highway 801 in Woodleaf.

The report stated that a judge approved the searches following an investigation into alleged misconduct at the businesses by authorities.

Substances, Aggression

According to Rowan County Sheriff Travis Allen, both establishments experienced numerous violent occurrences, gun-related offenses, and drug-related activities.

The operations were a component of an ongoing initiative to reduce unlawful gambling in the area.

“Any of these businesses that are operating illegally will be shut down… Many of these locations have been a hotbed of criminal activity, including armed and unarmed robberies, shootings, and assaults,” Allen said in a statement.

"The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office will continue to make shutting down these establishments a priority, as they are one of the top complaints we receive from our citizens. Any businesses that are operating outside of North Carolina law in Rowan County have just been put on notice.”

During the raid on the two establishments, the sheriff’s department utilized several officers, specially trained canines, and a BearCat SWAT vehicle.

During the operation, law enforcement captured a criminal who had a gun. Charges will be pressed. The business owners will receive cease and desist notices.
